SoundTap gives you the possibility of recording and converting any audio that is playing on your system. It can be used for a variety of purposes, from recording a local media playback to recording a VoIP conversation. Simplicity and ease of use are the software's main features. Everything, from recording to re-configuring the application, can be done quickly and effortlessly.

SoundTap is available for Windows and Mac OS X and it can be installed in under a minute. It uses a special kernel to preserve audio quality, which is included in the setup package, so you don't have to install it separately. You will, however, need to restart your computer, once the installation process is complete.

The efficient layout of SoundTap's controls allows you to get started right away. All you have to do is click a large Record button, on the application's compact user interface, and all audio that is playing on your system will be recorded. You can pause the recording at any time or you can stop altogether, by clicking the same Record button. If you have a microphone connected, you can simply click a check box to record from that source as well.

Recordings are stored in WAV format, on a default path, but you can set the application to store them in MP3 format and you can also change the output path, in the general settings menu. Additionally, you can tick an option to record to a VRS multiline recording system.

SoundTap comes with its own recordings browser. All recording sessions are displayed in a list, on a separate window, where you can select and play them individually. You can also edit and convert the recordings, burn them to a disc, back them up and transcribe them. If you have a large number of recordings, you can filter them by name, date and duration, on one of the tabs, in the lower part of the same window.

Any audio stream on your system can be recorded with a single click, thanks to SoundTap's straightforward design and functionality.

Pros

You can start recording any sound on your system at a moment's notice. SoundTap can record from a microphone as well. The application lets you edit the recordings, convert them, burn them and more.

Cons

There is no way of telling why SoundTap doesn't record on the rare occasions that something is not set up properly.
